The flasks’ elongated and narrow necks have a single etched ring graduation mark that indicates the volume contained when the flask is filled to that point. Volumetric flasks are produced to meet different ASTM and ISO standards of quality and dependability. Many are tested and calibrated in ISO/IEC 17025 certified laboratories. Class A and Class B volumetric flasks are available. Some flasks are also specifically designed to protect contents from harmful UV light, or PVC coated for break resistance. The flasks are manufactured from glass or plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, or polymethylpentene. These flasks come in a variety of sizes, from 1 mL cylindrical microflasks to 4 L larger flasks. Volumetric flasks are flasks that have calibrated volumetric markings.
